This month
Lighting design here is doing serious work.
Took my time and the building rewarded it.
Cold from the outside, warm once you're in.
I'm not usually moved by buildings but this one got me.
Made my afternoon.
Subtle in all the right ways.
Stood in the main hall for what felt like a long time. The proportions work on you slowly, then suddenly.
More atmospheric than I thought concrete could ever be. I'd been wrong about a lot of things.
Disappointing tbh.
A building that grows on you. I left ambivalent and now, three weeks later, can't stop thinking about it.
Architecture as argument. And it wins.
Subtle in all the right ways.
Daylight everywhere, glare nowhere.
